How to add the Scholias connector in Claude

About two minutes, once. The same connector covers every book after that. A free Claude account is enough. Nothing to install. Desktop app, claude.ai in a browser, or the phone.

The steps

1. Pick the book. A free classic on its page, the library shelf, or the link an author sent. Access starts on that page. 2. Get access. The free book needs your email. Paid checkout is Stripe, so the card does not reach Claude, the author, or Scholias. An author's book is one payment and does not renew. The library is seven days free, then $20 a month. Use an email you check. That email is the account. There is no password. 3. Open the sign-in link in the browser you will use with Claude. Do this before the connector step. If the link expires, request another at app.scholias.com/login with the same email. 4. Copy the connector URL. It is on the book page after checkout, and in the confirmation email. One address for every book: https://app.scholias.com/mcp 5. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors. On some versions that list is under Customize. Add a custom connector, name it Scholias, paste the URL. 6. Approve the sign-in page. Check the address is the one you pasted. Approve in the same browser you signed in with. If it asks who you are, use the same email. 7. Nothing will look different. A connector is not an app. It does not open a window. To confirm it is there, open the plus menu at the bottom of a chat, choose Connectors, and see that Scholias is on. That menu is also how you turn it off for one conversation. 8. Start. In a new chat or an old one, name the author or name the problem. "I never have enough time" is enough. Say continue to move on, or ask it to go deeper on one point. Ask for a markdown summary when you want a copy. The exercises stay saved either way.

When it stalls

Connectors missing: look under Customize. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may have to add it for the organisation first.

Link never arrived: spam, then a fresh link from app.scholias.com/login. Same email.

Access worked and nothing happened: access and the connector are two steps. Copy the URL and do step 5.

Authorize page will not pass: two browsers. Copy the authorize address into the browser where you opened the sign-in link.

You added it and a chat does nothing: it will not announce itself. Name an author, or toggle Scholias on for that conversation.

Wrong part of the book: name the chapter, or describe the situation and let it move.

Second book: do not add a second URL.

Still stuck: hello@scholias.com with the book title and the email you used.

The long version with the screen-level notes is how it works.
